MErel Voth BSW, RSW, MSW and Gottman Certified Therapist

Owner and Founder of Lakeside Counselling and Coaching Services

I view all challenges as opportunities for growth and transformation. I specialize in supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating life transitions, relationship dynamics, depression and anxiety, personal development, and business development. I am particularly skilled in helping people get “unstuck” and move forward with clarity and purpose.

I have been practicing as a social worker since 2007, holding a Master’s degree in Social Work, certification with the British Columbia College of Social Workers, and I am a Certified Gottman Therapist. I am also a Certified Associate Coach with Integral Coaching Canada. I continue to expand my skills through ongoing professional development and current research. My work is fueled by a genuine passion for helping people navigate difficult moments while staying connected to themselves and the people they love.

My approach emphasizes a safe, empathetic, and authentic therapeutic environment where clients feel honored and empowered to explore their emotional and spiritual worlds. Together, we set therapy goals and implement strategies that foster meaningful and lasting change.

I have a diverse professional background, including 10 years as a health care social worker and earlier experience at a child development center. These experiences have deepened my understanding of human development, resilience, and the importance of promoting well-being across the lifespan.

Since 2007, I served the Salmon Arm and Shuswap community. I have been married for 14 years and live with my husband and two wonderful children. In 2025, our family relocated from the Shuswap, British Columbia, to the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia. My practice is fully virtual, allowing me to work with clients from all over.

I absolutely love my career and feel privileged to support clients in their pursuit of positive mental health, meaningful connections, and quality of life.
