FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How Many Sessions will I need?

The answer is: it depends — but research gives us some useful guidelines.

  • Short-term benefit: Many studies find that 8–10 sessions of counselling can lead to noticeable improvement for a large portion of clients (especially for focused issues like stress, anxiety, or conflict management).

  • Moderate support: For more complex or layered challenges (trauma, long-term relationship patterns, depression), clients often find benefit in 12–20 sessions.

  • Longer-term therapy: Some people prefer ongoing support for several months or years, especially if therapy is also about growth, self-understanding, or ongoing life changes — not just symptom relief.

Will my BEnefits Cover your Services?

Many third-party insurance plans cover counselling services. Coverage depends on your specific plan, so it’s always best to check directly with your insurance provider.

My credentials are:
Registered Social Worker (RSW, BSW, MSW)
This designation is commonly accepted by insurance companies for reimbursement.

THE BENEFITS OF THERAPY

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Counselling can provide you with a confidential, safe space to work through issues that may be causing you emotional distress. You may also wish to learn concrete techniques and tools that help you deal with work/life stresses and anxiety in a more effective way. Counselling can help you develop clarity, understanding, and a fresh perspective on perpetual problem. Ultimately, counselling can help you begin healing so that you can continue on your own, unique path of self-discovery and growth.

THE RISKS OF THERAPY

It takes courage to turn around and face ourselves. In the course of therapy, emotions and memories may be stimulated which could evoke strong feelings. Changes in awareness may alter self-perceptions and ways of relating to others. This process of personal change can be quite varied and individual. Therapy is a process which does not always support the “status quo”.
